One of the most challenging aspects of combative role-play, in my honest opinion, is the art of counter-fighting. Anyone can engage in simple combat, blazing bullets, haphazard swordsmanship and lightning quick kicks; however, it’s how an individual can logically (and I stress logically) evade, dodge and or counter such things. In my time here on RPGC, I have noticed a lot of different styles of fighting, and one thing I have noticed is that those who can properly put into effect a strong offensive-defense, will come out victorious. It’s just that simple.
Below are listed a few examples and basic guidelines to maintain when putting counters into action:
[1] Know your human body, its strengths and weakness’. Utilizing certain mistakes that your opponent has offered to you as an advantage is key.
[2] Certain attacks are nearly unavoidable, such as close quarter bullets, explosions etc. However, remember the human body. Sometimes, if written out properly, you can avoid a lethal blow of some kind.
[3] Hand to Hand combat is what most of you will end up engaging in, atleast in the broad spectrum, in which case you must once again take the human physique into account. Placing yourself in a position, after someone attacks at you, to keep yourself from being vulnerable is important. Easily enough, if a right-handed punch is thrown at you, you’d want to step outside of the fist. Safest and most promising place to be at in that situation, because this will keep you from any recovery maneuver from the person with use of their left hand being out of reach.
[4] Blocking attacks, to place a counterattack is pretty basic as long as you remember to pay attention to details. If your opponent as sprinted ten feet at you before vaulting into the air to kick you, what elements about that would be critical to pay attention to? Well, what I would place a great deal of concentration on is the time it would take for the human body (assuming they’re not Goku) to run that distance, and leap through the air. This would allow you circumscribed timing to brace some sort of evasion or block, but collecting some sort of counter while they’re vulnerable in the air would be best.
[5] Through it all, you have an obligation remember one instrument. Logic and realism. In any world, make-believe or otherwise, regulations of logic still apply. In which case, you must stomach these and abide by the simple notions of correct time spans, body structures and the ability to keep things plausible. And above all, this is still just a game, so try to make things fun and exciting while keeping things entertaining.
In order to create the flawless diagnosis for countermeasures I’d heavily suggest you research the human body thoughtfully. Knowing its efficiencies of fundamental worth in order to keep disputes to a minimum when attempting counter-fighting, because frankly, it does get confusing and quite in-depth at times. In my opinion, it’s the most arduous art of fighting, but once mastered, it serves you well.
