Taken from RPG Chat, if you are the author and you want it removed let me know and I will do so.

Orthodox can be compiled into two concepts.
1. Attempt your attack, no hit and confirms in a single post. The person receiving the attack will judge whether to dodge or to accept the attack, due to various reasons. Though, if someone does confirm in an attack giving you no chance to dodge or otherwise, assume it being an attempt and judge it justly. Though, I recommend PM’ing them or whatever to see if that was their true intention. There’s no reason to be an ass about an in character fight. That’s acting out of character on it’s own.
2. Make sense to some extent. Even if your character is something lame like a demi-god or something. [Which by all means, I’m not supporting.] The least you can do is respect the realism of the realm. This isn’t Dragon Ball Z, or anything. That means, factor in all aspects, such as time, surroundings, and most of all, the characters way of tackling things. You can’t attack eighty billion times before your opponent can throw a punch. You cannot dodge bullets guys; we’re not in the matrix.
Hints & Tips?
OOC = Out of character: usually put in brackets with the statement that comes from the player/user/person rather than the character itself.
IC = In character: representing the character you role-play and it’s surrounding story.
Whisper = Private message: Messages that can be sent specifically to users in, well...privacy. A good way to clear up confusion between posts.
Play your character. If your character is a Chi/Ki using martial artist, stick with it. Don’t decide to go pilot mecha the next day, or cast magic spells out of the ass. That just ruins the character.
Avoid skills such as Time manipulation, mass destruction attacks at fingertips, and anything that has to do with invulnerability. I have yet to see a person utilize any of these techniques and not be god-modding in one-way or another.
Note: There is no limit to how many attacks you can do, other than judging at a realistic level. But I don’t recommend using more than five.
Having your character, randomly stand out in a field, and challenge people OOC is rarely going to draw their attention. Most of us have better things to do than answer these threads. Besides, not only does it make us look bad, but also it proves the person we're fighting doesn't really have a strong grasp of IC and OOC on the boards.
And please, most of all. Even if you hate the man [or woman] for whatever reasons. Pay respect to the person you're fighting. There is no reason to be a wh0re about things. Don’t take things out of character. This is role-playing.
