fight in progress I will post full logs when done
14:43:16 HammerFist parted the planar veils to arrive in the skies, some miles away from the Nexxian Arena, and subsequently flew at a high rate of speed towards the structure, having ascertained its vector and relative location by means of one of its magical abilities. As it neared the coliseum, it slowed down and began to descend, landing just outside of the structure, careful as it did so to not land of pedestrians or to blow over various vendor's carts and booths with the air shot through its rotor ducts. Once it had landed, it immediately began to shrink and reshape itself into its humanoid-like automaton form, which stood five inches over six feet tall, and wieghed about 300 lbs.
14:44:46 HammerFist , in this form, wore a pair of fingerless dark leather gloves, a gray-green tactical vest with many pockets, a broad-collared sleeveless nightscale long coat ending at the knees, a supple pair of black dragonscale bracers and a dark leather belt on which was slung a series of similar large pouches.
14:46:00 HammerFist then entered the arena through one of its spectator entry tunnels, emerging to arrvie halfway up in the stands on its northern side.
14:47:37 Sardis he heard the things long before he ever saw it. Something like a jet engine blasting through the air, but not quite as precise. It was as if the thing was built ahead of its time, but behind on the technology required to truly get the effect desired. As it neared, Sardis' sapphire eyes would finally track the thing on its course to the arena. He didn't recognize the machine, but it began to change almost immediately, eliciting a raised eyebrow from the bladed angel. “Someone had fun in a workshop.”
14:59:50 HammerFist surveyed the structure, spotting only the large celestial being some distance away, seated in the stands. It was immediately curious as to why it was here, and wondered if it should be concerned for the nearby Nexxians, with whom its makers had wanted to form trade relations. It ventured about the stands, circling the pit as it made its way towards the angel.
15:05:40 Sardis Well now, it appeared that the automaton had taken notice of Sardis standing down in the arena. Maybe it was the fact that the celestial was casually examining Hammer Fist. Maybe it was the fact he was standing in the arena itself, or maybe it was simply the fact that his wings appeared clockwork as well, and their exquisitely brilliant angles were shining in the rays of the afternoon sun like a field of swords. “Well now tin man, you look like you came here for something.”
15:13:18 HammerFist replied, "My given name is HammerFist, and yes, I dropped by to see what if anything, was slated to happen here. However, seeing a being like you here has made me curious, despite the history of this place, and I'm left wondering if a distrubance of some kind is about to happen here?"
15:14:50 HammerFist said as it came within about sixty feet of the celestial.
15:17:10 Sardis “HammerFist? Well you can call me Sardis.” He shrugged. “I'm not sure what you think normally happens here, but this is a place of combat and death.” He casually glanced around. “Or at least it is when the place is busy. Occasionally there is the friendly type of combat where people aren't trying to decapitate one another, but that is pretty rare as well.” He slowly inched one of his swords from the sheath on his back, holding the point out toward the clockwork man. “So what about you? Are you here for a friendly fight, or a permanent dirt nap one? Personally I'm up for anything, I'm simply stretching my wings for the afternoon.”
15:27:53 HammerFist pondered the possibility of measuring its capabilities against those of this being, to better develop a sense of itself and perhaps learn a thing or two in the process. Pain was not a concern for the construct, and he could withstand a good deal of punishment before the amount of damage sustained might threaten to strip its body of the life and locomotion that had been instilled in it. "I suppose I could do for a freindly match, in order for me to test and discover the extent of our capabilities. It should prove useful and informative, for me at least."
15:32:04 Sardis Smiled. “Well then, no time like the present.” His wings would move so fast that it looked almost like an involuntary twitch, but the action sent the weighted end of a sixty foot spiked chain on a course toward Hammer's abdomen to try and wrap around enough so that he could pull the other just a bit closer. “Lets get started.” Whether or not he managed to pull Hammer toward him, Sardis would unsheathe his second blade, placing both before him in a medium guard with enough mobility to attack if needed.
12:22:26 HammerFist allowed the chain to wrap around his midsection, as he hurtled toward Sardis and leapt, spinning and extending a leg towards the angel with a thrusting flying kick, which caused the chain to wrap around it even more. Its arms came down to grasp the chain and try to hold onto it, to try and help keep sardis within a manageable distance.
12:29:09 HammerFist 's midsection was scraped, dented, and furrowed and perhaps punctured by the spikes of the chain, as it did so.
12:27:52 Sardis what was that law? Oh yeah, a body in motion tends to stay in motion. With hammer now in the air, and deliberately wrapping himself even more in the chain, Sardis has an ad hoc ball and chain. He wasn't going to stand there and let the metal man hurtle toward him. He had intended to draw the other into an attack, and was still going to use it. Sliding back with his left foot, he stepped to the side as his wings went into action. Hooking the chain far out from his body, he used himself as the pivot point and pulled just enough to shift Hammer's motion through the air. If the construct didn't manage to get himself loose from the chain, he was going to get rather dizzy as he spun circles around the bladed angel. Of course, constructs probably didn't get dizzy, but he wouldn't be a big fan of hitting every support pillar on his way around.
12:35:14 HammerFist activated its imbued long coat as it sailed around Sardis, which caused it to slip free cleanly from the chains as if they had suddenly ceased to exist. The construct was sent sailing towards on end of the fighting pit where it attempted to land in a tumbling roll to absorb the impact and right itself at the same time. <c>
12:42:32 HammerFist was however, uncerimoniously sent bouncing across the sand into the retaining wall, with its arm and portions of its body, now dented and slightly misaligned from the impact, but very slowly on the mend as those injuries would eventually be reshaped and restored back to their former state. But for now, it took a moment to rise from the site of impact, and reached into its long coat, producing a small shield, two feet in diameter and made of a whorled green metal, anlong with heavy adamantine spiked warmace. Finding its feet, it began approaching Sardis again, this time in a much more cutious and deliberate manner.
12:48:41 Sardis slipped free? Well that wasn't exactly a surprise, but now Sardis had his chain free from the extra weight. It was free to thread through his wings which began spinning the different ends of the chain in a pattern that formed a virtual shield of chain and blade about twenty feet around Sardis. With each pass, the chain ends picked up speed, eventually moving too fast for the eye to see clearly. Hammer could approach, but he was risking a few pieces of missing armor, and possible a limb or two, if he tried to step through that field without some way to stop it. His hands still holding onto his two swords, Sardis kept his sapphire eyes on his opponent for any clever tricks. Once inside that field, Hammer would be within sword range shortly.
13:04:38 HammerFist swiftly and temporarily augmented itself with some of the Ki with which it had been instilled. As such, this enabled him to throw the force of each attacking thrust and swing it made with its body. From within fifty yards, it assumed a balanced attack form and began a series of kicks, knee thrusts, elbow jabs, arm swings with even a headbutt-like motion thrown in. The force from each apparently "shadowed" attack motion, was sent hurtling through the air, distorting it as it passed. The propelled force from a series of ten attacks made over the course of six seconds, assuming the construct could deliver them without disruption, were aimed and shot towards the angel's body and various joints. The construct would attempt to correct itself and antipicate the movements of the angel between each attack made over this period of time. ( effectively using this spell for referencehttp://eberronunlimited.wikidot.com/spell:blood-wind )
13:15:56 Sardis He may not have known the exact nature of the ability that Hammer was using, but Sardis recognized the flow of energy when he saw it. It appeared as though his opponent wanted to step things up a bit. The bladed angel would gladly oblige. Of course the first attack was a bit of a surprise, him not knowing that the construct was literally throwing his punched. A solid hit to the chest was enough to make Sardis stop spinning the chain, and put his wings to one of several other uses they had. Pulling in around his form as the second swing crossed the distance, those bladed wings would form a wall of metal between Sardis and Hammer, effectively shielding him from the barrage of attacks. The few blades off to the side, and around his back, would begin to grasp threads of energy around him, strumming each delicately before forcefully beginning to twist their now motile forms.<c>
13:16:10 Sardis The exact nature of the attack might take a while for Hammer to realize, but the small glowing ball that appeared above the battlefield would start to grow with each passing second. Sardis had simply redirected the flow of magic in the arena to a single point, creating in effect a dead zone. It might not disable the construct outright, but it would probably make things less fun for him, as the only magic he would have to draw on was the within his own form. What happened when the magic animating the construct ran out? Either way, there was not a nice miniature sun of pure energy floating above the battlefield, bathing the two combatants in eldritch light.
13:35:25 HammerFist 's enspelled senses were immediately diminished, and it noticed immediately as it could not percieve any magical auras about it. It would have to rely on abilities that weren't supernatural or magical in nature, nore could it retrieve any additional weapons from the extradimensional recesses of its long coat in this magical dead zone. Nor could it revert back to its true form either. And so it was that the construct then advanced upon the angel once again, attempting to get closer to it before it could bring its chains back up to speed. If the angel's wings were still in its way, it would attempt to batter them aside with blows from its warmace and shield. If it managed to get past them however, the construct would step within its reach shield first which it held in its left hand, and begin stepping laterally to begin circling the angel in a clockwise direction, striking at the angel's nearest weapon hand or arm with its shield, and swinging its spiked warmace for the angel's offered body parts.
13:41:42 Sardis well now, this was more like it. As the glowing orb above the arena stabilized, the effect would only reach to the edge of the pit. Sardis' wings parted as his opponent neared. He wasn't going to keep them in a stationary position now that the fun was starting. As Hammer approached, the longest 'feathers' on the tips of his wings would spring forward, aiming to take the construct in each shoulder. Assuming that hammer used his mace and shield to block, this would give Sardis ample room to step forward with a front kick toward the construct's chest, meant to send him flying back into the wall again. Sardis' swords were still in their ready position, saved to parry should Hammer break through the onslaught from his wings.
13:48:19 HammerFist , as it approached the wings that offered him entry, only to have them thrust their blade-like feathers towards him, lunged for the ground before it in a tumbling roll in an attempt to bypass them and rise to a standing position within reach of the angel, with its shield leading the way and its mace close to follow, in order to begin the circling maneuver described earlier.
13:55:59 Sardis not quite what Sardis had expected the construct to do, but it did open up some interesting possibilities. Shields are great for defense, but they become useless at extremely short range, effectively pinning the arm of whoever is using it. Sardis would step forward, bringing his chest up against Hammer's shield and both of his swords up to deflect the mace. Unless Hammer had some exit strategy, that would put him face to face with Sardis, with his shield pinned between the two and his mace extended up above his head. Sardis' arms would be extended as well, but that wasn't important as his outstretched wings turned back to envelop the two combatants. Since Hammer had so graciously placed himself between those wings as he rolled forward, his back was left exposed to the bladed cage closing in around him.
12:45:19 HammerFist , as the angel brought its body and chest close to bear towards the construct and its shield while catching its mace with a pair of crossed blades, let out a shout as it attempted to simultaneously headbutt the angel, give it a right knee thrust to the pelvis, and deliver a left-handed shield bash in a manner akin to a one-inch wushu punch, utilizing the convex surface of the shield and angel’s own forward motion to strengthen the force of the hit. Both the headbutt and the knee were delivered in such a way, as to try and briefly stun and/or nauseate its opponent with the force of its Ki. <c>
12:45:39 HammerFist ’s 360° field of vision enabled it to see the bladed wings closing in from behind it, and stepped laterally to the left immediately after its attempted strikes, in an attempt to place itself against the interior of the angel’s right wing and minimize its ability of that wing to reach him, hoping the blades of the angel’s left wing would fall short, or could be swept aside by the construct’s mace as it came free from the angel’s crossed blades.
12:54:36 Sardis One inch punch with a shield? Well it wasn't exactly impossible, but with half of Hammer's arm effectively immobilized by the shield itself, the punch wasn't going to be that hard. A large exhale would empty Sardis' lungs for the blow, deadening the hit to his chest as much as possible. With his arms already up, it would only be a manner of shifting his elbows inward to put a layer of protection in front of that headbutt. He grunted with the force from the kick, but that would only force him to clench, which meant his wings would move faster. Too bad fro Hammer that they had more than enough range of motion to reach both sides. Sardis' right wing would fold in on itself as Hammer stepped into it, cutting off Hammer's escape route. With that, the blades on his left wing would aim for the opening between his right blades.
13:07:38 HammerFist , having found itself within the curl of the angel's right wing, with the left wing's blades ready to slide in between those of its right, dropped to the ground directly beneath it in a crouch, as it thrust out a leg in an attempt to knock out the angel's knees from its right side. The blades of the angel's left wing however, came in through the spaces of the right, where three of them scored hits upon the hammerfists upper back and the back of its head. They dug deep furrows into the construct's body and frame, occasionally peircing and puncturing it as they slid across. From its crouch, the construct would then drop roll laterally away from the angel, passing under its right wing, where it hoped it could rise from a position all fours.
13:15:00 Sardis he was happy with the wings scoring a few hits, but the boot the knee wasn't exactly what he was looking for. Of course, with Sardis going to his right knee in the dirt, it would but the bottom of his wing directly against the ground. In taking Sardis to his knees, Hammer had closed the cage even more. For the moment, the two were lost in a tangle of blades as Sardis's right wing tried to pin Hammer to the ground while Sardis would regain his feet.
13:26:10 HammerFist , still wrapped up within the angel's right wing, stood back up from the crouch it was prevented from leaving and threw itself against that wing's back side where it met the angel's torso, in an attmpet to unbalance and drag Sardis down to the ground along with it. If successful, the construct would lie prone next to Sardis, atop the agenl's right wing, from where it would roll laterally towards the angel in an attempt to place its own body and the angel's own wing around it, to bear against the body of Sardis.
14:43:16 HammerFist parted the planar veils to arrive in the skies, some miles away from the Nexxian Arena, and subsequently flew at a high rate of speed towards the structure, having ascertained its vector and relative location by means of one of its magical abilities.
