Freysten is an inhabited planet on the edge of the galaxy. The planet has a large moon named Neidor which is tidally locked so that Neidor and Freysten are always showing the same face toward one another. This has protected one side of the planet from the frequent asteroid passes, but has left the other side of Freysten a barren desert.
The planet itself is not rich in resources, but is often a site of conflict due to its location on the edge of the Outlands. It is a perfect staging point for forces from outside the galaxy that are trying to make inroads into the more civilized areas.
The largest governing body on the planet is the Council of Skar, a body that only barely establishes order and lets most individuals do as they may. Due to the lack of true regulation, Freysten has often been the site of secret research projects by organizations wishing to avoid ire from the general public or their superiors. The massive desert hosts the abandoned remains of many such projects, as well as the abandoned offspring. Beasts which should not exist, nor survive, wander the desert fueled by strange science and arcane energies.
The side facing Neidor is much more accommodating, and sports several civilizations of varying technological might. One place that all on Freysten hold sacred is the Grove of Wanderings. This place contains dozens of archways and upright rings which act as gateways to other worlds. Some of the gateways move deeper into the Galaxy, while others move into the space beyond.
Places on Freysten:
The City of ways: The largest city on the planet. This is the location of the Council of Skar as well as the Grove of Wanderings.
The Desert: Housing the remains of things best left lost, and bands looking to stay hidden.
The Instasion Citadel: The local outpost of The Fold. A stronghold ship that has taken up residence.
Kairet Spire: Once a biological research facility, this place was attacked by a scouting party from The Hive and converted into a forward base.
