21:41:58 Berrikar the archway buzzed with the light hum of barely contained energy. There was a crack, then arcs of power from end to end across the transparent surface within. As that surface began to ripple, a large man stepped through into the Grove of Wanderings. This grove was one of many reasons why the Fold had chosen to station a forward base on Freysten. The portals here made scouting the surrounding Nexxus a simpler task. Single soldiers could depart as any other traveler without causing a disturbance, and return just the same. The man exiting the glowing arch was not one of the simple soldiers though, he was 'the' soldier as far as this area was concerned. Berrikar, the Fold commander. He was often a frontline leader, not content to sit back and send in fodder when he could be involved more directly. The scouting missions were no different. He could only listen to so many reports before wanting to take some trips himself. It was a way to learn this place, and a way to relax. He enjoyed both.
21:42:09 Berrikar Once the portal died down, he headed out of the grove and through the city. It was a long journey back to the citadel, but he wasn't in a hurry.
23:10:31 Clarity she stood silently almost motionless near the portal order to meet the solider that would be coming through. She looked like a statue, pale white skin flawless her blue eyes moving slowly as she scanned the area. her ears adjusting to any sound that may warrant an attack. Her long white blonde hair pulled back in a pony tail dress is normal civilian clothes to 'blend in' you might say but an Android like her was useful for more than just looking pretty. Programmed based of the need of the human she was able to handle most situations and able to foul most human into believing she was nothing more than a weak little girl. So when the portal hummed and he walked through her body reacted being relaxed and human like as he walked right past her fallowing at his heels " Sir I was asked to accompany you," trying to keep up with his large steps she maybe part robot but she was still short. " was given direct orders to assist in whatever was need." <C>
23:10:46 Clarity voice soft and sweet smiling and relaxed as she hurried after him, but her mind was running through everything she collected in data on their surroundings. Program to keep safe program to obey when need be and kill if she had to
23:20:47 Berrikar had seen the woman near the portal when he exited, but hadn't paid her much mind at the time. Not to say that he hadn't paid any attention. He was a man, and a soldier. As a man, he was usually aware of any female in the vicinity that was even remotely attractive, damn genetics and such. As a soldier, he was aware of his surroundings in case of attack, she had been noted and deemed non-threatening at the moment. They were far from the only two in the grove at the moment, this place saw quite a bit of use. When she fell into step behind him, and finally addressed him, he began to pay more attention to her. As his attention shifted more directly to her, his own technorganic makeup, and trained mental abilities, would register her android state. “Did Talis send you, or was it one of the other Seers?” Placing her as a member, or at least project of, the Seers was the logical choice. They were the science and intelligence branch of the Fold. He didn't turn towards her, merely kept walking on his way as he spoke.
23:30:42 Clarity she kept a few steps behind him almost jogging to keep up with his long steps ponytail swinging from side to side. Eyes analyzing the things around her plants animals people, the bionics in her eyes like camera sending a feed to her mind. " I don't know, They gave me the order I have sat here for two days waiting for you." A smile playing on her full lips it was likely the seer but she was an android and was not given information or names simply orders programmed into her mind. If he asked for her data she would be able to supply that, which would give him most of what he wanted. Her name, age, What 'race' she was, who sent her and what her orders where.
23:40:27 Berrikar sighed slightly as she spoke. Apparently they still had some bugs to work out on the knowledge end. Someone along the chain had dropped the ball. He stopped abruptly, assuming that the android would be able to follow suit, and turned just as abruptly to face her. Since he was obviously going to have her around until he reached the citadel, he looked over his travel companion, taking note of her design and the clothing she had to 'blend in.' He rarely wore anything aside from his uniform, which seemed to fit this place just fine. His forces were not the only soldiers around, and many showed it. “Name, classification and parameters.” Time to figure out exactly who was going to end up cleaning the main hall of the citadel when he got back.
23:50:28 Clarity she looked up at him as he stopped and turned to face him a delicate brow lifting. slowly pulling from her clothing a small delicate card that he could upload information. Voice soft as her black eyes going dark as she spoke the info, " Call E68 Andriod/human hybrid first of my kind, Reclassified name Clarity, Was given orders to assist you in any way, and protect you with my life Sir. " handing him her information more like a manual listed what information she had uploaded and what she could do, trained in all military combat styles. she could help him with weapons hand to hand combat and explosive, she was also a class 10 hacker.
23:58:22 Berrikar he was going to get a crick in his neck if he had to stay looking down at her like this. Why on earth would they send him an assistant so short? This had to be some kind of sick joke. Oh well, everything else seemed to check out. Human android hybrid? That would explain the look. Had she been a new recruit before the process? There were a few humans from the surrounding system that had joined since the Citadel had landed, but not many yet. “So, Clarity, how did you come to be of service to the Fold?” The information might be buried in the manual somewhere, but he was more interested in the mental clarity (no pun) of his companion. Was there anything of her human mind left, or was she simply an automaton with some organic makeup?
00:17:53 Clarity her eyes seemed to get dark body jerking as she looked for the answer in her system, it was not something they liked her knowing. Yet they kept it on file for when it was needed, she could only access it in a state of mind that put her human counterpart to the back burner and left nothing more than a computer running a search. The spark of her eyes as she searched and download the info showed it was loading her voice going monotone, " Dead or brain dead 60 plus years ago placed in cryopreservation, Body was purchased and sold off world 10 years ago by....by...by... sources unknown no data found tell 2 years ago when found in old military compound and resold to the fold. earliest data and info on program unit E68 was approximately 6 months ago. No further information on unit past history." She stayed perfectly still waiting for further orders if he seeks more information her head cocked like a empty eyes bird listen and watching for danger.
00:25:42 Berrikar waited calmly as she went into what could probably be described as a mini machine seizure. That wasn't quite what he was expecting when he had asked the question. He sat there patiently as she dug into her own memory to find the answer, and watched as what little spark of humanity had been in her eyes seemed to disappear. That in and of itself was something of an answer. The machine was dominant, or at least when it needed to be. He listened to the details of her ordeal without much reaction. Nodding as if he was listening would have been pointless to her right now. “You can refresh now. I don't need you in complete machine mode if you are supposed to be observant. The human part of your mind will catch things the machine won't.” He waited to see if she understood. “Do you remember your life before?”
00:33:41 Clarity "of course Sir" voice soft as she blinked slowly the file of her death stored in the very darkest corner of her mind that held most of the computer chips. The reason was the due to the fact she was still 60 % human it could become possible for her mind to break completely turning her into a useless low functioning robot and not a high functioning Android. After a long Pause she opened her eyes back to that pale crystal blue blink up at him as she offered a sweet smile before doing a scan of the area " My life before? Am sorry I don't understand that question I was trained for the fold that is my life it has been as far back as I can remember. My family has served the fold for many years it's an honor to be able to serve and protect you now."
00:41:48 Berrikar wow, they had definitely done a number on this one when they took to programming. It seemed that anything from before was completely lost, or buried so deep it might as well be. Oh well, she was free to develop from here on out. Maybe she would become something more again. Still, she was definitely a useful tool. A hidden weapon the size of a girl was not something to be underestimated. “You can disregard the question.” He turned and began walking again, assuming that Clarity would resume step behind him. “What's the situation since I left? How many recruits, and is there any word from prospective allies?” Down to business. Might as well get something done on this walk.
00:51:03 Clarity she smiled happily falling behind him with a bounce to her step hands in her pocket head cocked to the side. His questions made her get back into military mode, " Over 300 hundred willing new recruits and 100 not so willing." smirks at her joke well they committed a crime why not put them to use.' possible allies in the north and south but of course they want something more the protection so it is going slow." her hand lifting to her ear tugging on it softly head jerking around doing a slow scan of the area going from right to left then left to right before turning a cull circle and back to face him.
00:58:53 Berrikar nodded as he listened to the numbers. This planet was lawless, or at least not well controlled. There were so many different organizations and factions that one couldn't keep them all straight. The chaos made it hard to simply step in and take over the ruling body, but it made staying under the radar almost impossibly easy. Three months parked on this planet, and the citadel had doubled in numbers. If there was one thing this world didn't lack for, it was soldiers and scientists looking for work. “Make a note to keep the 'not so willing' in the training program for an extra month, and assign our senior brutes as the commanders for their units. We don't want them losing control during a battle.” The Council of Skar was the only real power on this world, and even they exercised very little control. At the moment, they had an easy truce with the Fold.
00:59:03 Berrikar Both sides knew that wasn't going to last, but Berrikar had the feeling that the council was waiting for an outside interference to draw the attention of his forces. “Have there been any sightings of more hive craft around the spire?” The beasts that had taken over Kairet Spire were definitely the largest threat on Freysten. Luckily, they seemed to be content with staying in the desert at the moment.
01:10:42 Clarity she pulled out a delicate scroll like item yanking it open the screen delicate and flimsy for a second before it went hard and stiff (looking almost like a see through tablet). fingers moving swiftly over the screen as he spoke she didn't' even look at what she was putting in her fingers dancing over the keys. As she walked near him eyes focused his safety, " it shows the prisoners are first placed under a 2 month 'rehabilitation' program and then into training will make sure another month is add on to training before the next batch. that should be in next week looks like another almost 100 more. It seems other areas are offering up there unwanted people for almost nothing in cost." She looked down at the screen for just a moment before looking up at him " No it looks like the hive has gone silent," meaning no change but that could be a bad thing.
01:23:23 Berrikar buying up unwanted to turn into soldiers. Well it filled the ranks at least. He doubted that any of them would ever make it past the position of brother. Though he had been wrong before. Some of the Lords were even ex convicts themselves, though their crimes were often a good preview of their true worth. There was a big difference between unwanted because they were baggage, and unwanted because they were dangerous. Dangerous was much better, once it was honed and directed. “Good. Let the Seers know tat the next batch of recruits is theirs. I want production on the fleet to pick up pace. Things have been quiet for too long.” At least things in their section of the galaxy. There were rumors of unrest among the Aquarians, rumors that Berrikar would soon be leaving to see for himself. If there were potential allies in the empire, he was going to find them.
01:32:59 Clarity nodes her head up and down slowly looking over at him then away biting her lower lip as she moved her fingers over the screen to place in his order. She had no power beyond being his personal assistant, bodyguard, computer, solider ect. " Yes Sir of course, " she seemed to catch onto one of his thoughts not that she could read minds but maybe she just knew or could read him. " will I be going with you when you leave Sir, I can be of help I hope to prove that to you. I know you trust those under you but if it's not to rude to say, per your profile you seem to keep people at a distance. I don't think that is wise your combat skill are far above many but it never hurts to have someone helping you. I would be honored if you allowed me be that person." Her mouth clamping closed in shock looking up at him wide eye. She had no place to say those words she was not viewed as human just a machine. Clears her throat " I didn't mean.." bites her lip thinking it best to be silent now.
01:41:55 Berrikar stopped abruptly once more and turned on her. “Considering you were just placed on my detail this week, that seems a little presumptuous of you to ask.” He stood silent for a moment, watching her bite her lip, and suddenly burst out laughing. A friendly grin cracked his features, and he relaxed slightly. “So there is still a personality underneath all of that programming after all. I was worried that everything had been stopped away when you were reborn. Not that I can't use an unquestioning assistant, but I find that having the ability to actually think for oneself works out so much better. Unthinking loyalty rarely leads to improvement.” He gave her a moment to process what he had just said, and continued. “I don't even know the specifics of my trip yet, but you will likely be there to assist me.”
01:49:11 Clarity she seemed to gulp as he turned to look at her a red blush sliding up her cheeks " yes am sorry I.." her voice trailing off as he started to laugh confusion sliding over her face letting out a little nervous laugh of her own. "Well I do try to use my brain as much as possible sir, most robots lack that ability which results in a flawed program. " gives him a sad smile " I would hope that as a human I can learn and improve myself and my ability to serve you better." slowly dropping her hands to her side as she did another scan of the area. once done she faced him head cocked smiling " am pleased that you will give me the chance to show you I can be a good asset to you and the fold."
01:56:49 Berrikar studied her reaction to his sudden shift. He caught sight of a blinking 'open' sign just down the street and a decision clicked into place. “Nothing to worry about. I'm sure you will prove yourself more than useful. You are simply operating within your current parameters. We can adjust those later, once we are back at the citadel. For now though, I have decided I want a drink someplace other than the mess hall.” With that he headed for the door just underneath the blinking sign.
21:42:09 Berrikar Once the portal died down, he headed out of the grove and through the city. It was a long journey back to the citadel, but he wasn't in a hurry.
