SOH Cell Technology
SOH Cell stands for "Synthetic Organic Hybrid Cell" Technology. It is an extremely advanced line of nanite technology. Standard nanites are miniature machines created to do a specific task. They may augment another system and produce more of their own, but very little else. They are constrained by their programming and by their mechanical bodies. SOH Cells strive to remove this problem by combining the durability and precision of nanites with the flexibility and adaptability of living tissue.
The human body is a carbon based organism. SOH cells have gone with a titanium base, but can be updated as needed. SOH Cells are a complete mechanical representation of a living cell. Each molecule that makes up a living tissue cell has been replaced with a more durable one that makes up the SOH Cell. They are still initially machines, but normal observation will not determine this. Only under chemical or genetic analysis does the difference become apparent. The basic SOH Cell is much like a normal stem cell. It contains the information needed to fill whatever roll it will eventually be placed into.
Besides Generic SOH Cells, there are cells already programmed to fill specific roles. There are six beginning phases of SOH Cells, these being Bacteriates, Blood, Nerves, Generics, Powers and Hard cells.
Phase 1
Bacteriates- Bacteriates as their name hints toward are bacteria like cells. They fulfill the function of the helpful bacteria, as well as many other duties, in a living organism. They also help maintain and repair damaged cells and programming. These first phase cells may be used alone just as nanites might be used in any organism. They are only helpful in living beings or SOH Cell subjects though they may be upgraded for use in a Synthetic being.
Phase 2
Blood- Just simply what the name says. These are nanite blood cells filling the role of white and red blood cells. They in conjunction with phase 1 cells will grant an organism a perfect immune system. These cells may be used to heighten athletic performance as well as oxygen and nutrient flow. After being administered the organisms blood with darken to an almost oily appearance. These may be used without Bacteriates but are better suited in conjunction. They are helpful in any being where fluids are used to regulate functions.
Phase 3
Nerves- These are nanite versions of the most complex nerve cells. They boost signals to all parts of the body and allow willful control of all other phases, with programming. These may be used on their own to heighten the reflexes of any organism. They can also be used to reverse the effects of paralysis.
Phase 4
Generics- These cells are designed to adapt according to programming. With the help of Bacteriates they can adapt to anything from skin and organ tissue to upgrades and new appendages. These are the most complex of the phases being able to assume any forms that are allowed for in programming. Unless used in specific systems, these cells must be accompanied by phases 1-3 to function properly.
Phase 5
Powers- Powers are cells that provide energy with a cross between a type of cold fusion and an artificial metabolism. These cells are usually not needed unless the subject is going to be equipped for combat, as the living cells that must be included with all phases will usually provide enough energy in the form of things such as heat, to run the previous phases for casual use. These cells serve to power the body through strenuous situations, they also power any weapons hooked into the body.

Hard Cells- These cells are used to create bone and armor. Armor is only introduced into subjects fitted for combat. These are much like human fingernails but are designed to come into and out of the body providing retractable armor that can be as hard as the hardest alloys with upgrades and programming. In combat models these cells form sheaths around vital organs to protect them from damage.
SOH Cells contain a synthetic DNA sequence. This sequence is generic at first but updates itself depending on the subject's own genetics. When first introduced into a subject, they are known as a Synthetic Organic subject, or simply a SO subject. The Synthetic cells are designed to analyze a subject's genetic structure and then adapt with a synthetic version of those genetics. Once this adaptation is complete they move onto the Hybrid cell phase. Hybrid cells are just as their name implies, a hybrid of Synthetic and organic cells. This is the ultimate goal of SOH cell technology as the cells combine to form a cell with both the benefits of an organic being and a machine. For every organic trait, the cells have a synthetic partner. If a subject has modifications such as cybernetics, the adaptation is opposite. First the Synthetic cells break down the cybernetics into a nanite form. Synthetic genetics are produced to account for the cybernetic function and then these genetics are introduced into the Hybrid cells literally encoding the cybernetics into the subject's DNA. The strength from one cybernetic implant is them spread through the subject's body in these hybrid cells.
All the phases work together and may be used to create purely SOH cell beings. Due to the fact they are still living organisms, all SOH cell beings must eat and drink like normal humans, though the things they can eat and drink are near limitless due to the fact that almost anything is used in building or energy production. Waste is so small that it can usually be exhaled or sweated out into a type or armor wax.
Though it is different from many technologies it is fully compatible and even under some circumstances may make them better. In the case of upgrades, the upgrade is absorbed into the body and then turned into SOH cells itself by the Bacteriates. The Bacteriates break down the upgrade and program Generics cells to fill roles amounting to the effect of that upgrade. The time this takes may vary depending on the size of the upgrade and the complexity, though during the procedure the upgrade still remains active the entire time. Whenever SOH cells come into contact with a technology they have not sampled before, they will begin advancing based on the new information provided.
A damaged SOH cell being may be repaired through cybernetics, medicine, or even flat out mechanics if the situation calls for it. Regardless of how it is repared, the body will eventually fix itself and change as needed.
Specifics: Aside from the normal SOH cells, there are specific upgrades that work on their own even in the absence of other SOH cells. Whenever Stationary SOH cells are included in a non SOH cell being they are surrounded by a weak electro-magnetic field to prevent them from growing out of control.
Popup Armor: You can retract and popout your armor when needed. It's alot like claws and fingernails. This armor bends with the body.
Bone Sheaths: The Vital organs are surrounded with a sheath of bone and Hard cells. This makes them much harder to damage.
Sub dermal armor: This is a layer of pre-programmed Generics cells underneath the top layer of skin. In combat models, this layer acts like secondary armor. It provides a little extra protection and heals with the body.
Living Weapon: A weapon is stored in a specific part of the body as energy. When needed the cells form this energy back into the mass of the weapon stored. Unless in full SOH cells, this weapon only forms in one area. This system can be modified to store basically anything inside the subject's body as a mass of energy.
Protein Veins: Strands of complex proteins are woven through the body’s muscles allowing them to hold more blood. This process makes them faster and stronger than normal.
